When you sign up for Game Pass, you'll need to choose whether you want to subscribe to the console or PC service-or both. Keep in mind that you'll still need Xbox Live Gold, or Game Pass Ultimate (see below) to play Game Pass games online. Games regularly join and leave Game Pass, but as a subscriber, you get a discount if you choose to buy a game in the catalog (or its DLC) to keep. Your console must check in with Xbox Live every 30 days to make sure that your Game Pass subscription is still valid. You can download as many titles as you want, as long as your system has enough room consider adding storage to your Xbox if you need more space.

It offers titles from every generation of Xbox. Game Pass for Xbox is pretty straightforward, especially compared to the somewhat confusing tiers of PlayStation Plus. However, you can now stream many Xbox Game Pass games to enjoy them without installing files and taking up space on your console. It's similar to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, but has some distinctions.įor some time, Game Pass titles were download-only. On Windows 10 and 11 PCs, it's called PC Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Premium also allows you to stream some other Catalog games if you'd rather not download them. Most of these are available to download, though you'll need to stream the PS3 games since the newer PlayStation consoles aren't compatible with the PS3's architecture.

If you opt for PS Plus Premium, you also get access to the Classics Catalog, which features titles from the PS3 and earlier.

Ubisoft+ Classics is also included, letting you play some of Ubisoft's top titles at no extra cost. PS Plus Extra and Premium both include access to hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games through the Game Catalog.

If you opt for PS Plus Premium, you can also stream compatible games to your PC. That means we'll skip PS Plus Essential since it's more comparable to Xbox Live Gold.Īll new tiers of PlayStation Plus are available for those on PS4 or PS5.
